Making Math Common Sense
MY GOAL
I HAVE ONE MAIN GOAL AS A TUTOR:
I desire that all my students truly understanding the material and, on top of that, learn how to teach themselves. I suppose that last part is ironic: if they know how to teach themselves, they won't need me anymore, but not needing me means that I did the best job possible.

NOW, WHAT DO I NOT WANT?
What is absolutely unacceptable is merely showing students how to solve a problem. This forces students to memorize a list of methods to solve circumstantial problems, which becomes confusing and burdensome.

I will not merely show students how to solve problems. I will lead them to understand the mathematical concepts so that they can solve problems on their own, even ones that they have never seen before. If one understands the math, then they do not need to memorize anything. It will seem like Common Sense.

That's my goal: Making Math Common Sense

I sent him to John and, after a few sessions, my son comes home relieved and tells me that he is the only one able to answer the teacher's questions.
